My name is Allen Kass, and I live in Richmond, Virginia. USA. I am 16th year here in Richmond.
I started in radio at WISP-AM & WQDW-FM in Kinston, NC. in 1975, where
I was a duty operator and helped in Engineering while I was in college.
While in college I also served as technical assistant for the local community
college Broadcasting Dept. and non-commercial 3Kw station, WKNS-FM. After
graduation I was hired as the Chief Engineer for WKNS-FM. I was also promoted
to Chief Engineer of WISP-AM & WQDW-FM. The company then purchased WRCS-AM and
WQDK-FM in Ahoskie, NC. I was then given the duties of Chief Engineer for
these stations as well. In 1985 I was hired for the position of Studio Supervisor
at WRVA-AM (1-B 50KW) here in Richmond. In 1991 I was appointed to the
position of Chief Engineer/Operator for the sister station WRVQ-FM (200KW)
also here in Richmond. I held that position until May 1998.
Since that time I have been employed by Broughton System here in Richmond as a Consultant.
I am also a member of the Richmond Chapter #60 of the Society of Broadcast Engineers
(SBE). With the SBE chapter I previously held the position of Secretary
and currently hold the office of Treasurer and Chair the Frequency Co-ordination
Committee and administer the Frequency Database for the Central Virginia
area.
